Privacy Policy

🔒 Your Recordings and Transcripts

This policy covers VoxScript on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and this website. VoxScript does not send its analytics or purchase services:

• Audio or video files you transcribe
• Transcription text or results
• The text of your notes, vocabulary entries, or speaker names

You do not need a VoxScript account. If you contact support, we receive the contact details and information you choose to send; please avoid including private recordings or transcripts unless needed for your request.

📱 How VoxScript Works

All transcription processing happens entirely on your device:

• On-Device Processing — Speech recognition and supported transcript tools run locally using the models available on your device
• Your Choice to Share — Exports, sharing, cloud-backed file locations, and device backups are controlled by you and the services you select
• Offline Transcription — Transcription works offline after required models are installed. Downloads, purchases, purchase restoration, and analytics use network services separately
• No Account Required — No account creation, login, or user registration needed

🎛️ Permissions

Depending on your platform and the features you use, VoxScript requests access for:

• Microphone — To record audio you choose to transcribe
• Photos and Files — To import media you select. A cloud-backed source may download the selected file before local processing
• Device Authentication — Optional App Lock uses the operating system's authentication. VoxScript does not receive your Face ID or Touch ID biometric data

You can manage supported permissions in your device's system settings.

🤖 AI Model Downloads

Some models are bundled; others are downloaded from model hosting or content-delivery services when needed. Download servers receive ordinary request information, such as your IP address and the requested model files. These requests do not include your recordings or transcripts. Downloaded models are stored on your device.

💾 Data Storage

Your library, settings, and downloaded models are stored locally. App extensions use shared app storage to deliver files you import. Device backups and files you export to iCloud Drive or other locations follow the settings and policies of those services.

Deleting an item in VoxScript does not delete copies you exported elsewhere. Uninstalling or removing app data does not necessarily remove device backups, exported files, or purchase and analytics records already held by service providers.

📤 Exports and Sharing

When you export or share transcriptions:

• VoxScript uses the platform's sharing and file-export controls
• You control where exported files are sent
• Recipients and destination services handle the files under their own privacy policies

🔗 Purchases

VoxScript uses Apple StoreKit and RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore access, enable paid features, and understand subscription performance. RevenueCat receives transaction and entitlement information associated with an app-generated identifier, including product, purchase, renewal, and refund information. Apple processes your payment; VoxScript does not receive your payment card details.

No VoxScript account is required, and recordings and transcript content are not sent to RevenueCat. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.

📊 Analytics

VoxScript uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand feature use and reliability. This can include:

• Which features are used (e.g., recording vs file import)
• App launches, screen views, model choices, purchase events, and whether a transcription succeeded
• Processing duration, audio length, word counts, and categorized errors, without the underlying recording or text
• App-instance and technical device information, app and operating-system versions, and general location derived from network information, not GPS permission

Analytics uses app-generated identifiers, so we do not describe these records as completely anonymous. Earlier app versions may also collect the vendor identifier through Firebase. The iPhone and iPad 3.0.1 update disables vendor-ID collection and ad-personalization signals and uses Firebase's analytics component without advertising-identity support.

Apple's system Analytics & Improvements switch is not an in-app control for Firebase. For details about Google's processing, see Privacy and Security in Firebase.

🛠️ Crash Diagnostics

Starting with iPhone and iPad version 3.0.2, release builds use Firebase Crashlytics to help identify and fix crashes. Reports can include stack traces, relevant technical application state, app and operating-system versions, device information, app-generated installation or session identifiers, and analytics action breadcrumbs from before a crash. Firebase also records crash events in Analytics to measure reliability.

We do not attach your recordings, videos, transcript text, notes, vocabulary entries, speaker names, or user-authored tags to these reports. VoxScript does not supply Crashlytics with your name, email address, or an account ID. These technical records are not described as completely anonymous; they can distinguish app installations or sessions. This reporting is separate from Apple's system Analytics & Improvements setting.

📈 Measuring Our Apple Ads

VoxScript does not display ads inside the app. Starting with iPhone and iPad version 3.0.1, supported App Store installations use Apple's standard AdServices attribution through RevenueCat to understand whether an Apple Ads campaign led to a download and later purchases.

This measurement can include campaign, ad group, keyword, and attribution identifiers associated with purchase information. This integration does not request the advertising identifier (IDFA) or an App Tracking Transparency prompt. It does not include audio, video, or transcript content. The Mac app and TestFlight builds do not enable this Apple Ads collection.

⚖️ Retention and Your Choices

You control your local library, exports, backups, and device permissions. Apple manages subscription cancellation and refund requests; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Purchase, analytics, diagnostic, and support records may remain with us or our service providers after you delete the app, according to service settings and applicable retention requirements. We do not promise a single retention period for every provider or automatic deletion of server records when the app is uninstalled.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or object to its processing. Contact contact@voxscript.app with a privacy request, including concerns about information relating to a child. We may need information to locate the relevant records; please do not send payment credentials or sensitive recordings.

🌐 This Website

This website is hosted through GitHub Pages and loads fonts from Google. Those providers receive ordinary web requests, including network and browser information. See GitHub's privacy statement and Google's privacy policy. Following an App Store or other external link takes you to that provider's service.

We update the date on this page when this policy changes. Version-specific practices are identified above; a description of an upcoming version does not mean that version is already available to download.
